you are sooo right about needing to be removed from these sites for at least a month to go "amish" mode. like a lot of gen z, compulsive social media use is like a deeply, deeply ingrained habit. but times where I am able to replace those hours with reading/ walks/ art I find fulfillment. it just doesn't last very long until I find I need another detox.

Great article! Keep it up!

I can relate to this a lot as a Gen Z teen. Surely addiction to smartphones and social media are making us less social. From the beginning, i'm a little socially awkward, and my addiction to smartphones made it worse. I was wrapped up in my cocoon, never coming out as a butterfly.

If only the use of smartphones and Instagram (in my case) were regulated, then we would be happier. Not saying that all IG posts are bad, some of them genuinely make me feel good, but excess is bad.

But they don't stop me from wanting to socialize with people, and going to a hill station for a holiday, or an amusement park. I'll have to use my phone just for Spotify and calling :)
